Report

Kwansei Gakuin University Fighters won the 2019 Koshien Bowl in Japan’s College Football with a 38-28 victory over Waseda Big Bears in the Final match. They had earlier finished runners-up in the Kansai Collegiate American Football Association with a loss to Ritsumeikan Panthers in the Regular season, but made no mistake in the Playoffs, knocking out first Kyushu Champions Seinan Gakuin Green Dolphins 47-26 in the West Japan 2nd Round, before defeating two big Kansai rivals (Kobe Ravens and revenge over Ritsumeikan Panthers) in the West Japan Semi-Finals and Final.

Waseda University Big Bears had defeated North Japan Pine Bowl Champions Tohoku University Hornets 41-10 in the East Japan Bowl (Kanto v North Japan). The North Japan Bowl between the Tohoku Champions (Tohoku Hornets) and Hokkaido Champions (Hokkaido Big Green) had been a blowout (34-9 to Tohoku) as had the West Japan 1st Round match between Chukyo Eagles (Tokai Champions) and Chushikoku Champions Hiroshima Raccoons who were defeated 7-59. Chukyo then lost to Kobe Ravens in the West Japan 2nd Round. Kansai, being the biggest Association, gets three representatives in the College Playoffs.

Report

With three teams going unbeaten for half the season it was always going to be difficult to choose the Champion from the 2013 OMFA Organisacion Mexicano de Futbol Americano Pro Championship. OMFA Pro was the leading Professional League in Mexican American Football at the time until it was superseded by FAMA (Futbol Americano Mexico Asociacion) in 2014.

In the end it was Olmecas Premier (Olmecas were the first ever written civilisation in Ancient Mexico) who prevailed in the Final over Tigres Oro SSP ( Gold Tigers Secretaria de Securidad Publica) with Lobos Toluca also worthy of praise, going 3-0 in their first three matches before falling to Olmecas Premier, who knocked them out again in the Semi-Finals. Other teams were Rancheros Aguas Calientes, Aguilas Blancas (White Eagles) and Horda Dorada (Golden Horde).
