About

The AFL of 1944 was a Major League rival to the NFL on the West Coast that was one of the Leagues that took the AFL name from the 1920s to the 1940s. It challenged the other Major Pro League of the time – the Pacific Coast Pro Football League – for one season, and unlike the PCPFL till then was truly a West Coast league rather than a Californian League, including teams in Portland & Seattle.

The Hollywood Rangers won the title and played off against the PCPFL winners, the Saan Diego Bombers, for the Pacific Championship, which the Rangers won over two legs.
